Techniques and exercises will open the door to intuitive objective and nonobjective abstract painting. Exploring line, shape, color, and composition challenges and expands your thoughts and ideas to produce work that is uniquely yours. Spontaneity, exploration and discovery are part of the painting process. Surprises and new ideas are realized as the imagery emerges.

Beyond Alla Prima for New Artists

This class is for those who have never painted or who have just started painting and want to have FUN layering collage papers and acrylic. We will explore some basic design and painting techniques and play with materials creatively using our intuition and improvisation. You will have enough experience to begin your own practice of painting! All materials are provided with a fee to cover costs!

Beyond Alla Prima – The Journey to Creative & Imaginative Painting

This workshop is designed to strengthen your voice by clarifying and developing your thoughts, ideas, interests, or feelings and guide them into powerful statements. We begin the process of composing more inventively and developing the idea visually and abstractly. Line, color, shape, texture, value, and balance are explored as the creative imagery develops. Spontaneity, intuition, and discovery are part of the process. Surprises and expanding possibilities become part of the image as you proceed to add layers of acrylic paint to the canvas.
